That is my essential David Bowie wish list, totaled at (an estimated) $1200. But, I don't suppose that matters, since it is only my materialistic view of David, and he is multi-faceted in all his trendsetting glory. If you want to know when I started "worshipping" this glam rock god, let us rewind the tape to my 15th birthday:
It was a typical September day and I invited the usual crowd, cut the usual chocolate cake, and blew out another set of candles. What was extraordinarily unusual was the gift that my best mate, Ashley, gave me: The Labyrinth DVD. I watched that movie inside and out, memorizing every word and dancing to every song. What caught my attention the most was Jareth, the ultra sexy Goblin King.
I asked Ashley if she knew who this man was, and she casually told me to look him up in the credits. So, I did and "David Bowie" popped up. I researched and found the most wonderfully complex profile of the perfect man/rock star/glam rock god. No, seriously, if somebody held a contest in search for the world's most perfect man, he would win it hands down.
His music is the purest form of art that I have ever seen in my life, and I thank him for that. Without his music, I might have gone mad in this reality. It has kept me sane, if you know what I mean..
